Things to do
Annual RNLI Blue Anchor to Minehead Raft Race
This popular race takes place in August and attracts rafting teams from across Britain as they compete to finish the five mile course. New to this year is a two-tiered event, with two races running simultaneously - one for the more serious competitors, starting from Blue Anchor Beach, and the 'Fun & Fancy Dress' race, starting from Minehead (golf club end). It is not only a major summer event in the area but it is also one of the biggest of its kind in the country and it has become somewhat of a tradition to close with a spectacular firework display on Minehead harbour. The Old Mineral Trail starts at the Esplanade at Watchet and continues past the Paper Mill, through the fields, to Washford Station.
