Local, charitable organisation providing low floor, wheelchair accessible transportation for the community such as the elderly, or residents with a disability who cannot access public transport

* The SLINKY BUS is a door-to-door pre-booked demand responsive transport service. It is provided for those who cannot access public transport (or where public transport is not available) or for those without their own transport.

 The following can be re-cycled at your local centre:

Batteries, Cans, Cardboard, Drink/Liquid Cartons (Not at Dulverton), Electrical Appliances, Engine Oil, Car Batteries, Fluorescent Tubes, Fridges/Freezers, Garden Waste, Glass Bottles/Jars, Hardcore, Mobile Phones/Toner Cartridges, Paper, Plastic Bottles, Scrap Metal, Spectacles, Textiles & Shoes, Wood.

You can also take asbestos to Minehead and Plasterboard to the Williton Centre. Please ensure asbestos is double wrapped and remember site staff cannot assist with handling asbestos. As space is limited for both please call first to ensure there is room available.

SOMERSET ARCHIVE & RECORD SERVICE  (The Records Office will be moving to new premises and will become part of the new Somerset Heritage Centre which is being built in Norton Fitzwarren and is due to open in September 2010)

This service preserves and makes available to the public written documents of the county's people & communities. For more information please contact:

Somerset Record Office (closing Obridge Road office from 5th July 2010) - from September 2010 they will be at The Heritage Centre, Brunel Way, Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton TA2 6SF

From Monday 5th July 2010 to Friday 3rd September 2010 the office will be closed to the public. They will answer enquiries by email, post and telephone throughout.

From January 2010 New Opening hours:  CLOSED MONDAYS - Tuesday-Friday - 9am-5pm; Alternate Saturdays - 9.15am-12.15pm - After Easter , from Wednesday 7th April 2010 they will be running a microfische service only this will continue until Friday 2nd July. They will be open Tuesday - Fridays, but not on saturday mornings.

WISH (Warmer Improved Somerset Homes)

NEW! The Bristol & Somerset Energy Efficiency Advice Centre and the Somerset Coast Improvement Agency have joined forces on a new project called WISH. Homeowners who are over 70 or on a low income or in receipt of certain benefits are eligible for free cavity wall & loft insulation through the scheme, which is supported by West Somerset Council
